Japan

Six years ago I attended a going-away party for a good friend.  We had worked together for about a year and a half, and the party was bittersweet- I was going to miss him, but was happy he was moving to pursue his dream job.

More than anything, he wanted to teaching English in Japan.  And guess what? He’s still there, teaching English to Japanese children, six years later.

I’m happy to say my friend is fine.  Thanks to the wonders of Facebook he was able to reassure hundreds of friends at once- but obviously the country is facing a nightmare that I can barely comprehend.

I see all these news reports about the devastation and I feel powerless at the destruction.  I wish there was more I could do for my friend’s adopted home.

If you’re able to help- please do
